Cowboy Gus is a unique young man. He was born with a cleft palate and congenital hypotonia. With a failure to thrive diagnosis, he had a feeding tube and we had several scary months in and out of Vanderbilt Children’s. Thankfully, after his cleft palate was repaired, things improved, although he still had (and does have) low muscle tone and general fatigue. Horseback riding was recommended as a form of physical therapy.
He started riding horses just before he turned 5. He quickly took to horses and the cowboy life in general. Now, at the age of 9, he is participating in youth rodeo. He is so passionate about horses and rodeo life! So far, he has only been able to compete in unmounted events.
Gus is determined to earn enough money to buy his own rodeo horse!
He has started his own line of granola, along with bookmarks and Christmas ornaments to earn money for his horse.
Thank you for supporting a young cowboy’s dreams.
